"The Mountaineer" Black Walnut Dining Table

I couldn’t have been more excited when “The Mountaineer” was requested in black walnut. It is a favorite design of mine, and black walnut just does not quit.

Made with black walnut from the same tree, you can see that the color matching is excellent. The contrasting stripes between the long-grain and end-grain of the finger joints is so fun and I can just stare at joinery like that for hours.

Unlike the original white oak version of this design, you might notice a difference in thickness of the legs and thickness of the top. Made with 10/4 material, this top is 2-1/4” thick and the legs are 4-1/2” squared. So huge!

The table was set roomy for four guests, but you could easily squeeze in up to 10 using the ends.

This piece is finished with a satin polyurethane for a beautiful and warm glow. Finish will not water-spot.
